Funeral Partners extends north of the border
The UK’s third largest funeral company, Funeral Partners, has made its first foray north of the border, after buying Scottish independent funeral company ML Williams, set up by Michael Williams in 1982.
The purchase comes just two months after the Reading-based operation acquired 47 Laurel branches. Chief executive Phillip Greenfield said the move heralded expansion plans in Scotland.
ML Williams will keep its name, with Michael staying on as a consultant. The nine staff have also transferred to the new company.
Michael said he was honoured to be the first company in Scotland to join the Funeral Partners stable, which now totals 131 branches, and more than 500 staff.
