April 7: PPE stock accessible shortly, says NAFD
Funeral directors will soon be able to access personal protective equipment via their local resilience forums, says the NAFD.
“Having discussed concerns about PPE stock for funeral directors on a number of occasions with both the Department for Health and Social Care and the Cabinet Office, the NAFD was recently invited to make an application to access PPE from the NHS Supply Chain,” says today’s release.
“The request was elevated as far as the Secretary of State for Health and we are delighted to have just heard that funeral directors will shortly be able to access the stocks of PPE through their local resilience forum.
“We would like to thank the Government, and in particular the Secretary of State for Health Matt Hancock, for listening and responding to our plea on behalf of the profession. This will enable funeral directors to continue their work in confidence and focus on how they can play their part in the national response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are awaiting further details and will be back in touch shortly with instructions on how to access the PPE stocks.”
